To answer this question we will use the following diagram as reference:

Notice that both triangles are similar, then:


\frac{\text{xft}}{6ft}=(24ft)/(8ft)\text{.}

Simplifying the above result we get:


(x)/(6)=3.

Multiplying the above result by 6 we get:


\begin{gathered} (x)/(6)*6=3*6, \\ x=18. \end{gathered}

Answer: 18 feet.
