Find the gcd (greatest common divisor). In other words, what's the biggest number that fits into both 6 and 36? The answer is 6, so divide both 6 and 36 by 6 and you get 1/6.

You reduce it to 1/6 because 6 goes into 6 once and 6 goes into 36 six times giving you 1/6
