1. Many simple eukaryotes reproduce by asexual reproduction, using onlymitosis. Assuming the environment is stable and the organism is well-adapted to its environment, why is this a better form of reproduction?

In this hypothetical case, the environment is very stable in which case there wouldn't be a selective pressure, therefore there is no need to recombine genetic material, a process that implies a high energetic investment, because there would have to be a high production of gametes, each with its respective process of recombination, as well as the effort to search for a partner to which exchange genetic material.
