The rental company charges $6.75 for a pick up and $2.45 for every mile.

The cost for travelling x miles is,

\text{2}.45\cdot x=2.45x

The total cost equation for x miles travelled is,

C=2.45x+6.75

So equation is C = 6.75 + 2.45x.

b.

For csot $80, the value of C is C = 80.

Solve the equation for x.

\begin{gathered} 80=6.75+2.45x \\ 2.45x=80-6.75 \\ x=(73.25)/(2.45) \\ =29.8979 \end{gathered}

So individual can travel 29.8979 miles in $80.
