(x-1)/4 = (1/2)
(x-1)/4 x 4 = (1/2) x 4
x-1+1 = 2+1
x =3

(x-1)/(4)=(1)/(2)\\\\cross\ multiply\\\\2(x-1)=1\cdot4\\\\2x-2=4\ \ \ /+2\\\\2x=4+2\\\\2x=6\ \ \ /:2\\\\x=6:2\\\\x=3
