180/36 = 5 whole yards.

36 inches are in a yard. So, 180/36. Since that's a improper fraction, we must make it proper. 180/36 as a PROPER fraction is 5, so.., your answer is 5. Ellen must buy 5 yards of ribbon. Hope this helps.
