5/2= 2 1/2 miles 2 1/2 mi x 4= 10 MPH

Divide the two numbers.
5/2 / 1/4
Flip the 2nd fraction and multiply:
5/2 * 4/1
20/2
10
So the marathon runner travels at a unit rate of 10 MPH.
