An awning covers a window that is 4 feet high. When the awning is open ,it extends 2 feet from the base of the window .find the slope of the awning .

It helps to visualize the awning as a line whose rise is the height of the window and whose run is how far it extends from the window's base. See the picture attached.

The slope of a line is equal to rise over run. In this case, that would be 4 over 2. You can simplify that to a slope of 2.

Slope = rise/run

Height(rise) = 4
Extend(run) = 2

Slope = 4/2

Slope = 2
