Someone help! you have 44 text messages in your inbox. How many messages can your cell phone hold? (and inbox is 88% full)

ratio and proportion 44/x=88/100 cross multiply x= 50 messages

We can set up a proportion.

88% = 0.88

44/0.88 = x/1

Cross multiply:

0.88x = 44

Divide 0.88 to both sides:

x = 50

So your cell phone can hold 50 messages.
