$2x^2+5x+2=9\\ 2x^2+5x-7=0\\ 2x^2-2x+7x-7=0\\ 2x(x-1)+7(x-1)=0\\ (2x+7)(x-1)=0\\ x=-(7)/(2) \vee x=1$

2x² + 5x + 2 = 9
2x² + 5x + 2 - 9 = 9 - 9
2x² + 5x - 7 = 0
x = -5 +/- √(5² - 4(2)(-7))
2(2)
x = -5 +/- √(25 + 56)
4
x = -5 +/- √(81)
4
x = -5 +/- 9
4
x = -5 + 9 x = -5 - 9
4 4
x = 4 x = -14
4 4
x = 1 x = -3.5
