s / h = 5 / 3 ;
s / 5 = h / 3 = k => s = 5k si h =3k ;
5k + 3k = 24 ;
8k = 24 ;
k = 3 ;
s = 15 ( Sam's age ) ;
h = 9 ( Hank's age ) ;

hank is 9 years old
Step-by-step explanation
hank´s age is 3/5 of sam´s age so if hank is 9 then sam must be 15
9 / 3 = 3
3 * 5 = 15
9 + 15 = 24
