Which of Mendel's laws or principles explains that traits are passed from parents to offspring individually instead of as pairs, groups, or sets?

The second law of Mendel. It states that the alleles of one gene sort into gametes independent of the alleles of another gene. It is also called the Law of Independent Assortment.

The law of independent assortment, the second law. It states that the genes for different traits segregate independently when forming new gametes.
