x = 0.8888

Multiply 10 to both sides:

10x = 8.8888

Subtract the two equations:

10x - x = 8.8888 - 0.8888

9x = 8

Divide 9 to both sides:

x = 8/9

x=0.8888... \\ 10x=8.8888... \\ 10x-x=8.8888...-0.8888... \\ 9x=8 \\ x=(8)/(9)

The fraction is 8/9.
