A proton has a positive charge. Electrons have a negative charge, and neutrons don't have an electrical charge at all even though they have pretty much the same mass as a proton.

The center of the atom is called the nucleus, and is composed of neutrons and protons. The protons carry a positive charge, while the neutrons have no charge at all.
