You subtract 4/7 from the -3 to get the variable by itself. Your answer will be -3 and 4/7 or -25/7 (both of those fractions equal the same #, they're just written differently)

b + 4/7 = -3, first, subtract 4/7 from each side,
b = -3 - 4/7, combine like terms,
b = -3 4/7.
^ There's your answer!
