The Articles of Confederation was an early and important part of American government. Please identify what the Articles of Confederation were and explain why this document failed and was eventually replaced by the United States Constitution.

Although the Articles of Confederation were an important step in the creation of the United States, they were very weak in the sense that they didn't provide a central government with any power. Without this, trade and currency equilibrium were virtually impossible. The Constitution gave a great deal of power to a newly established federal government.
