A snake is covered in scales but you may be asking what is inside a snake a snakes back bone has 200-400 vertebrae with as many ribs possible that is what make it so flexible

a snake is covered with scale because it is a reptile all reptile can and somtimes cannot be covered with scales 100 part of it's body is just scales and the other is flesh and snakes even have about 200 verterbrae
