Writing numbers in Expanded Form

Numbers in expanded form is written out by place values.

Example:
1356 = 1000+300+50+6

1200 = 1000+200

326 = 300+20+6

15 = 10+5

These are examples, you are just breaking down the number into place values. Hope this helps!

Break the number apart into hundreds, tens, ones, etc. and add the quantities together. Here is an example:

To write 256 in expanded form, break it apart. There is 200, 50, and 6 in 250. Now, add them together. 200 + 50 + 6 = 256
