first, you would need to separate the y and the x variables. (add 4x to both sides)
y=4x+8
now that you have your equation, you can graph it.
4 is the slope and 8 is the y-intercept.
on a sheet of graph paper, place a point on (0,8) because that is the y-intersept in the equation.
now, because the slope is a positive 4, go up 4 spaces, and over 1 to the left. place a point where this is. (1,12)
do the opposite thing to get another point; down four spaces and right 1 and place a point (-1,4)
connect all three points that you have and now you have a line segment
