convert 2 1/2 to 5/2 an improper fraction equivalent then do 5/2 X 2/2 and you get 10/4. now do 10/4 - 3/4 and you get 7/4. To simplify just do 7/4 divided by 2/2
so the answer is 3.5/2 or 7/4
