Answer: D) Some of the bacteria may be resistant to the antibiotic and survive.

An antibiotic is an chemical preparation which includes a biological agent in the form of bacteria. It is a medication which is used for the treatment and prevention of bacterial infections. They may either kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria in the host organism. It mimics the one which is already present in the host body and fight with it to provide the immunity against the disease.

According to the given situation, some of the bacteria will survive as they may attain resistance against the antibiotic because of adaptation. Variations in the genome of these organisms may occur to attain resistance against the bacteria which is present in the antibiotic formulation.
