SOLUTION

(a) The volume V of a cylinder is given as

\begin{gathered} V=\pi r^2h \\ where\text{ V = volume } \\ r=radius=12m \\ h=height=15m \end{gathered}

The volume is

\begin{gathered} V=\pi*12^2*15 \\ V=\pi*144*15 \\ V=6785.84m^3 \end{gathered}

Hence the answer is 6785.84 cubic meter to the nearest hundredth

(b) the radius r = 2.1 cm and height h = 5.8cm

The volume becomes

\begin{gathered} V=\pi*2.1^2*5.8 \\ V=\pi*4.41*5.8 \\ V=80.355657 \\ V=80.36cm^3 \end{gathered}

Hence the answer is 80.36 cubic centimeters to the nearest hundredth
