One reason the colonists had difficulty coming together to revolt against Britain is because each state had a different set of interests. Many in the southern states had little interest in fighting with the mighty Great Britain because they didn't view their lives as being in need of fixing. The northern states did not have the same amount of revenue and were more eager for a change.
