Start finding 2 numbers that have a difference of 2

9-7=2

since the solution has a sign contrary to the original sign, we need to make this difference negative then

7-9=-2

in order to have this on the right side of the inequality, we use 9 as a positive integer

?x+9<7

then, we make the x negative also in order to switch the sign of the inequality

\begin{gathered} -x+9<7 \\ -x<7-9 \\ -x<-2 \\ x>2 \end{gathered}
