How did feudalism provide for the security of the people of medieval Europe?

They had protection because they were vassals. This meant that they pledged that they would serve the lord who owned the land and they would give him some of their produce, and in return he would protect them with his armies in case of a war. This was pretty common throughout Europe, best seen in Italy, France, and Germany. Hope I helped! :) Cheers!
