A 12-ft ladder is leaning against a building. The bottom of the ladder is 7 ft from the building. How high is the top of the ladder?

use the Pythagorean
the whole length of the ladder is the hypotenuse

x^(2) +7 ^(2)=12 ^(2)
49+x=144
-49 -49

9.75
