Answer: 6

There are 2/8 per every 1/4. This means that a 3/4 foot long board is equivalent to a 6/8 foot long board, and can therefor be cut into 6 1/8 foot segments.

Answer: 6 pieces.

Explanation:

Given: The length of the board =
(3)/(4)\text{ foot}

The length of the pieces =
(1)/(8)\text{ foot}

Now, to find the number of pieces we need to divide the total length of board by the length of a piece ,

Then the number of pieces James cut from the board is given by:-

n=(3)/(4)/(1)/(8)\\\\\Rightarrow\ n=(3)/(4)*(8)/(1)\\\\\Rightarrow\ n= 6

Hence, James can cut 6 pieces.
