Given data:

The school has 5 grades

Each grade collected: 6,915 cans

To find the total number of cans collected, multiply the number of grades (5) by the number of cans recollected per grade (6,915)

To multiply:

1. Multiply the ones digit of the top number by the ones digor of the bottom number (5x5=25). Write the product as follow:

2. Multiply the tens digit of the top number by the ones digits of the bottom number (5x1=5) add the 2 (in green) to the product (5+2=7). Write the answer as follow:

3. Repeat the process with the other two digits of the top number:

The final product is 34,575

Then, the school collected in total 34,575 cans
