A quantitative observation is an observation where you use basically use numbers to describe whatever you're observing. For example, the mass of that paperclip is one gram, or my weight is 120 lbs.

I made these up, so I hope they make sense to you.
1. A leaf is 9 centimeters long.
2. The mass of my computer is 1.5 kilograms.
3. My sister is 4 feet tall.
4. My baby brother weighs only 5 pounds.
5. The length of that door is 2 feet.
Basically, "quantitative" means using numbers to describe something. If you need to know, qualitative means using words.
