Apply the distributive property.
2(5x)+2(3)=3x−22

Simplify.
Move 5.
5⋅2x=3x−22

Multiply 5 by 2 to get 10.
10x=3x−22

Replace back into larger expression.
10x+2(3)=3x−22

Multiply 2 by 3 to get 6.
10x+6=3x−22

Since 3x contains the variable to solve for move it to the left-hand side of the equation by subtracting 3x from both sides.
10x+6−3x=−22

Add 10x and −3x to get 7x.
7x+6=−22

Since 6 does not contain the variable to solve for, move it to the right-hand side of the equation by subtracting 6 from both sides.
7x=−6−22

Subtract 22 from −6 to get −28.
7x=−28

Divide each term in the equation by 7.
x=−4

X is equal to -4
