(x+1)(x+3)
x^2+3x+x+3
x^2+4x+3
That's how you expand it.
and to get the answer, you can equal (x+1)(x+3) to 0.
(x+1)(x+3)=0
x+1=0 or x+3=0
x=-1 or x=-3
