$1\underbrace{2340000}_(\leftarrow7)=1.2340000\cdot10^7=1.234\cdot10^7\\\\\\0.\underbrace{0005}_(4\to)7=5.7\cdot10^(-4)$

a) move the decimal 7 places to the left: 1.234 x 10^7

b) move the decimal 4 places to the right: 5.7 x 10^-4
