Chemistry => Solution => Preparing solution

They ask us to make a solution, that is, to obtain a solution with a lower concentration. For this we will apply the following equation:

M_1V_1=M_2V_2

where,

M1 is the initial molar concentration, 3.5mol/L

V1 is the initial volume, unknown

M2 is the final molar concentration, 0.5mol/L

V2 is the final volume requiered, 22.9L

We replace the known data and clear V1

\begin{gathered} V_1=(M_2V_2)/(M_1) \\ \\ V_1=(0.5mol/L*22.9L)/(3.5mol/L) \\ \\ V_1=3.3L \end{gathered}

Answer: a. 3.3 L
