A new cell phone is on sale for 40% off its original price. The sale price is $48.

What was the original price of the cell phone?

The original price is:

100%-40%=60%

(60/100) * x = 48

x = 48 / 0.6

x = 80

so sale price=100%-40%=60%

48=60%
one easy way is to manipulate the numbers
20 times 5=100 so we will get 60 to 20 then muleitply remember ot do the same thing to both sides


48=60%
divide both sides by 3
16=20%
multiply both sides by 5
80=100%

the origonal price=$80
