so if you have an equation in the form y=mx+b, b= the y intercept so just convert any equation to that form

exg
6x+8y=8
subtract 6x from both sdies
8y=-6x+8
divide both sides by 8
y=-6/8x+1
y intercept=1
they y intercept is where the line crosses the y axis, or when x is equal to zero so it is the same as setting x to zero and solving for y
6x+8y=8
if x=0
0+8y=8
divide both sides by 8
y=1
y intercept is still 1
