f(-5)=9-4|-5+1|\\ f(-5)=9-4|-4|\\ f(-5)=9-4\cdot4\\ f(-5)=9-16\\ f(-5)=-7

f(x)=9-4|x+1|\\ f(-5)=9-4|-5+1|\\ f(-5)=9-4|-4|\\ Absolute\quad value\quad makes\\ the\quad numbers\quad inside\quad it\\ positive,\quad so\\ f(-5)=9-4\cdot 4\\ f(-5)=9-16\\ f(-5)=-7
