Explain why mitosis alone does not produce daughter cells

1. Because the cytoplasm has to divide - this is called cytokinesis and occurs at the end of telophase.
2.Prophase is longest phase of mitosis.

cytokinesis is needed ( sorry did not spell that correctly) in order to create the daughter cells.
