*it is important to note that 2 divided by 7 is the same as the fraction 2 over 7 or 2 7ths. Fractions are division.

1.) Multiple 7 by each side
2y+5=63

2.) subtract 5 from each side
2y=58

3.) divide each side by 2
y=29

4) Check your answer
2(29)+5=63
58+5=63
63=63

5.) y=29

2/7y + 5 = 9

Subtract 5 from both sides

2/7y = 4

Multiply both sides by 7

2y = 28

Divide both sides by 2

y = 14
