if it was 10/2 and 10/5 10/2=5 and 10/5=2
does that make sense?

The fraction with the greater denominator is less than the other fraction because a greater denominator means that it's split up into smaller pieces ( think of a pizza when it's split into a lot of pieces each piece is less pizza)
