Binomial nomenclature is the system used by scientists to name different species of organisms.  It is a two-word system, with many other words before it (all of the words count as classifying an organism, but that specific species is usually just identified using its two-word name).  For example, the human species' name in binomial nomenclature is Homo sapiens.
