Charlie has 5 times as many stamps as Ryan then C = 5R.

R + C = 1608.
So we plug in for C
R + 5R = 1608
6R = 1608
R = 268

Now find Charlie by plugging in and we get

268 + C = 1608
C = 1340

Lets check our answer
1340 = 5(268) yup we are right.

Charlie has 5 times as many stamps as Ryan. They have 1,608 stamps in all. How many more stamps does Charlie have than Ryan
