in the given equation

4x+5y=-20

To find the x-intercept, substitute y by 0

\begin{gathered} y=0 \\ 4x+5(0)=-20 \\ 4x+0=-20 \\ 4x=-20 \end{gathered}

Divide both sides by 4 to find x

\begin{gathered} (4x)/(4)=-(20)/(4) \\ x=-5 \end{gathered}

Then the x-intercept is (-5, 0)

To find the y-intercept, substitute x by 0

\begin{gathered} x=0 \\ 4(0)+5y=-20 \\ 0+5y=-20 \\ 5y=-20 \end{gathered}

Divide both sides by 5, them to find y

\begin{gathered} (5y)/(5)=-(20)/(5) \\ y=-4 \end{gathered}

Then, the y-intercept is (0, -4)
