20+17v=-6+15v
Subtract 20 from both sides.
17v=-26+15v
Subtract 15v from both sides.
2v=-26
Divide -26 by2.
v=-13

try to get the placeholder on only one side
subtract 15v from both sides
20+2v=-6
subtract 20 from both sides
2v=-26
divide both sides by 2
