y=5x-7 \\ 6x-5y=12 \\ \\ \hbox{substitute 5x-7 for y in the 2nd equation:} \\ 6x-5(5x-7)=12 \\ 6x-25x+35=12 \\ 6x-25x=12-35 \\ -19x=-23 \\ x=(-23)/(-19) \\ x=(23)/(19) \\ \\ y=5x-7=5 * (23)/(19)-7=(115)/(19)-(133)/(19)=-(18)/(19) \\ \\ (x,y)=((23)/(19),-(18)/(19))
