Given:

Angle = 44 degrees.

Adjacent side = 6 units.

Hypoteuse side = x units

Recall the formula for cosine,

\cos \theta=\frac{Adjacent\text{ side}}{\text{Hypoteuse side}}

Substitute Adjacent side = 6 units, Hypoteuse side =x units and angle =44, we get

\cos 44^o=(6)/(x)^{}
\text{ Use }\cos 44^o=0.719.

0.179=(6)/(x)^{}
x=(6)/(0.179)
x=8.34

Round off, we get

x=8.3\text{ units}

Hence the value of x is 8.3 units.
