W=6a+3b. To put it simply, just use the distribution property of multiplication

rearrange for a:
w/3 = 2a+b
w/3 - b = 2a
a =
(w)/(6) - \frac{b} {2} = (w-3b)/(6)
rearrange for b:
w/3 = 2a+b
b =
(w)/(3) -2b = (w-6b)/(3)
