Multiply the distance he traveled by how many yards are in a mile.
So if he traveled 5 and a half miles ( 5.5 ) you multiply that by how many yards are in a mile ( 1,760 ).
The equation would look a lot like this 5.5 miles x 1760 yards = 9680 yards
