What is the mean of the given distribution, and which type of skew does it exhibit?

{4.5, 3, 1, 2, 4, 3, 6, 4.5, 4, 5, 2, 1, 3, 4, 3, 2}

WHAT IS THE MEAN? and WHAT TYPE OF SKEW EXHIBITS? negative, positive, symmetric, zero etc..

Answer with Step-by-step explanation:

We are given a distribution:

{4.5, 3, 1, 2, 4, 3, 6, 4.5, 4, 5, 2, 1, 3, 4, 3, 2}

We have to calculate the mean

Mean= sum of all observations/total number of observations

Mean = 52/16

Mean = 3.25

Now, we calculate the mode which is that observations which has highest frequency,i.e. how many times it has been repeated

observations frequency

4.5 2

3 4

1 2

2 3

4 3

6 1

5 1

Clearly, 3 has highest frequency hence, mode=3

Now, if mean is greater than mean then the curve is positively skewed.
