A medical biologist is examining one of many cells that are produced during the human oogenesis process. The cell is haploid, meaning that it has 23 chromosomes, and it was removed from the body shortly after it entered the fallopian tube. The cell had begun the process of meiosis II, but did not finish it. What type of cell is the biologist most likely examining?

a fertilized egg
a polar body
a primary oocyte
a secondary oocyte

I think the correct answer from the choices listed above is the last option. The type of cell that the scientist most likely is examining would be a secondary oocyte. The cell description could be that of a polar body; however, the fact it's in the oviduct (fallopian tube) indicates it MUST be a secondary oöcyte.
