Explain why the Homestead Act was attractive to settlers.

settlers thought they would be getting land that was fertile and that there crops would grow and so would there animals because ads during that time presented the west to be very appealing however this was not the case, grasshoppers ate all of their crops and they didnt have enough money to fund their farm so their animals died and it was hard to make a profit
